The National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) has partnered with the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development at the University of Georgia to offer the NAWDP Leadership Academy.
The first cohort is comprised of 25 leaders from 16 states across the country. The cohort represents varying experience levels and organization types, including nonprofit, local government, workforce development boards, American Job Centers, community colleges, four-year institutions, business and industry, for-profit, and Academic Health Systems.
The program consists of five sessions. Two of those sessions, the opening and closing sessions, occur in-person prior to the NAWDP Annual Conference. The other three sessions take place in a virtual format. Participants also engage in virtual intersession work between the sessions. Participants must also complete a capstone project to graduate.
Program Goal and Learning Objectives
By the end of the academy, graduates will have a greater understanding of three key leadership competencies in the workforce development sector:
- Self-Understanding and Awareness
- Building Positive and Effective Relationships
- Transforming Thoughts and Visions into Action
NAWDP Leadership Academy graduates will earn a certificate from the University of Georgia’s J.W. Fanning Institute of Leadership Development, and the Certified Workforce Development Leader certification from the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals.
